My name is Linda L. Smith. I was born in Tallulah, a small town in Louisiana to Ben and LouElla McCall. Born the third child of six; five boys and one girl. Graduated from Reuben McCall High School, just before segregation began in our small town. I lived in Dallas, Texas before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 1976 I married and went to Germany with my husband. It was while living on base at Rhein Mien AFB that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was at Rhein Mien that I met Pastor Victor and Sadie Alexander. We served the Lord together at the chapel on base, along with Bro James and Evang Mary Wilson.
Accepting Christ in my life was a turning point for me. Being born again for me was the most significant thing that had ever happened to me. Knowing God and His Son gave my life purpose. Loving my husband and children had a greater meaning for me. Loving God and His Son became a reality to me. Loving others became a necessity for me.
While in Germany on a second tour, in which Pastor Victor and Sadie Alexander were my pastors, God taught us so much. We learned God’s purpose for the church. He taught me what it meant to suffer for the gospel sake, to love unconditionally, to be led of His Spirit, to be totally dependent on God. To trust Him with my whole heart.
After the second tour, my children and I moved back to Las Vegas, NV with my family. My husband and I divorced. He did not want to continue the marriage. I am presently a member of New Beginning Min. COGIC, and my son, Pastor Bobby Smith is my pastor. I was ordained in Germany an elder, issued minister license in Delaware, and Las Vegas. A servant of God, serving presently on the mothers’ board, called in the office of an evangelist.
I was led of the Lord to continue the DWIC ministry in Las Vegas. In 1989 the ministry was established. We eventually incorporated it as a non-profit. This ministry was given by God in prayer. He gave me the mission statement at work in my office. Later a book was devised to give us further instruction in fulfilling the mission. We seek God for directions concerning this ministry. Women play a vital role in God’s purpose in the church, in their homes, in the communities. This ministry was given to remind us women that God has a purpose and a plan for our lives. We must encourage and pray for one another, that we become the vessels of honor in whom God has so desired, fit for the His use.
Since then this ministry has spread to three other states, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas. Each chapter is committed to God’s mission for this ministry:
